Malacca: Getting There

OK everyone, here's some important info for the first day of our trip (i.e. this Tuesday, 18 December 2007).


Puduraya

Bus will leave at 9.30am so Fiona's suggestion to meet by 9.00 and board by 9.15 is good.

Now there are two options:

1) If you want to have breakfast at Puduraya, meet at the Ground Floor near the Dunkin Donuts stall by 8.00am. There are stalls and mamaks in the area, so we can choose.

2) If you don't want to have breakfast, meet on the Ground Floor at the staircase to Platform 7 by 9.00am.

OK so how much do we each need for this trip?

1. Accommodation will come up to about RM60 per person, per night (after service charge etc is added). So that's a total of RM120 for the trip.

2. Food depends on your appetite. It is probably reasonable to set aside RM50 per day for food (meals and snacks). Since our trip will last about two-and-a-half days, that amounts to RM125 for food.

3. Transport. Bus fare is RM9.40 one way, total of RM18.80 return. Taxi (to and from bus station) should be about RM10 one way, total of RM20 return. If four persons in one taxi, each pays RM5 for the whole trip. That brings transport to a total of RM23.80.

Technically, the bare minimum would be RM120+RM125+RM23.80=RM268.80. I suggest bringing RM300 to be on the safe side.


What to Bring

Most of you have been on enough holidays to know what to pack, and since Malacca isn't a place to scuba dive or go mountain biking or rock climbing, the stuff we need is pretty basic and there's probably no need to elaborate here.

Just a reminder to those bringing cameras: bring charger/spare battery and sufficient memory cards.

Oh and if you want, you can dig out the old Sejarah PMR and Sejarah SPM books to brush up on knowledge of Malacca... :-P
