Heads Up!

It's a hotel named Aldy in melaka (ben Ben's parents' friends found it... must give credit :) ) And he says he's been there [Ben: there, i.e. Malacca, not Aldy] almost at least once every year... so we all know who will be our tour guide this round!

Anyway we are thinking of getting the weekday promotion package which is RM250 for 3D/2N. It is inclusive of 2 set breakfast.

We'll probably stuff 3 people in there so it will be cheaper. If not, there's the family suite and we'll stuff 7 ppl... guys probably can sleep on d floor in sleeping bags.... hehe.

My friends and I did that last time... and there was actually enough beds... weird guys...

[Ben's note: the package works out to RM40 per night, per person. the 7-per-room option works out to RM50 per night, per person.]

18-20 Dec: Hanson

Ben: Need to confirm something. PhakHoe, you're not free from 12-14 Dec? Cos at first laushu put her name after 18-20 Dec I think, and now it has been changed. So I'm a bit confused as well. Those of you who haven't filled in, please read Valerie's instructions carefully:

Fiona: Hanson asked me to inform that he is only having a one week break from 5 - 16 Dec so he thinks the first choice of dates is better. Also, he prefers the family suite package for 7 people

[Jino] : i malas want ask my boss la. terus make my own decision. i prefer 12-14 dec. hehe. family package 7 ppl pack together, better bonding? y not every1 pack in the room? better bonding. yipee another class trip!!! just another month away...

Mel: I'll ask my room mate bout the food price, and perhaps recommendations for good food. She's from Malacca. I'm not available from 10 - 14 for camp.

laushu: o yea, i can also ask a long list of recommended food and places from my roommate.. hehe.. I will still be in Singapore at that time... going back around christmas.

Fiona: Ummm...guys? For those of you not available from 12-14 Dec, is it because you all got plans on those few days or you don't prefer those days because Hanson still has classes on those days. And no one has state why they cannot make it on those days. I really hope everyone can make it so a little compromise will be appreciated. Pls state why u all cannot make it on 12-14 Dec

Valerie: Phak Hoe can't make it because he has youth camp during that time. Tsu Wern will not be back at that time also. The second date she can only make it because she asked to be back home the week before christmas. Suzie on the other hand will probably be in Ipoh.

Hanson: Fiona, it is ok one. Although i cannot follow you all to malacca, my spirit and soul always be with you all. Dun be over sad about that. Just enjoy yourself there. There is always second time right?? Remember give me all the picture u take in malacca, let me use photoshop to add my face in the picture. Haha..

Please inform others about it... oh and those with PR welcomed to join the trip too. Either add to this post or sms me your decision. PR have to sign up also through me or any other bfians. Hopefully everyone can confirmed by this Friday because the package is limited.

Transport still searching... probably take a bus (2 hours journey) to melaka then take a taxi to the hotel... unless i can find enough contacts there with cars (which i doubt... but will try)


Ben: transport by bus to Malacca then taxi to hotel seems the most straightforward. Taxis in Malacca don't have metres, and usually charge RM10 per journey (at least back in 2004). Since we will only need the taxi to get to and from the hotel, it'll be roughly RM20 both ways inclusive. Four persons to a taxi, RM5 return journey. Buses should cost about RM10-15 one way.

All in all, total transportation costs should not exceed RM30 for the entire trip, as we'll be touring on foot in Malacca anyway.

Cost calculation:
Assumptions:
1) Transport = RM 18.80 (bus) + RM 5 (taxi)
2) Food = RM 60 (we're going to pig out arn't we??)
3) Accommodation = RM 40/50

Which means taking the package would cost about RM 123.80
and taking the 7 people room would be RM 133.80

My guessing for price is not very good so those that know the pricing of food in Melaka please correct the assumptions and the amount accordingly thanks.

Ben: Food in Malacca is cheap, much cheaper than in KL. However, portions are variable so people like Phak Hoe might want to save up, just in case. And anyway, even if portions are big, Phak Hoe would probably still benefit from extra savings :-P
