From Chicks to Champs

It has been a five-year wait; the VI last won the State Drama Championship in 2003.


Presenting... the State Drama Champions of 2008!


In Chicks 101 by V.G. Smigs (V.G. Smigs is part of the title; the source material, from which the play was adapted with many heavy adjustments, was by Grace McKeaney), several ex-classmates (foreground) recall their experiences with their Homeroom teacher, Miss Pradhan (background).


Miss Pradhan and a few students try to convince Shobaan not to jump out the window.


Isaac Heen George was named the Best Actor. He played Miss Pradhan.


Almost every part of the play, from the title and characters to the dialogue and flow itself, reference the many drama boys Miss Shanti has worked with over the years.

In many ways it was as much of a tribute to the students as it was a tribute to a great teacher; a teacher who, to those of us who have worked with her, probably remain the best teacher we've ever had in the VI.
